Marc Jones

Osteopath

I have 25 years of musculoskeletal osteopathic practice, backed up by full-time university osteopathic education from the UK, and post-graduate education in critical thinking, clinical sciences, pain research, spinal biomechanics and movement theory.

I find ways, sometimes creatively, to help people decrease their pain and improve their movement so that they can return to what is important in their lives.

If I use hands-on treatment, I use "old-school meat and bones" osteopathic techniques in the original styles of Dr Still and Dr Stoddard* and not the later visceral or cranial rhythm techniques developed by others.

I frequently look for ways to incorporate functional movement, motor control exercise and pain education which is underpinned by current research evidence.

I also look at symptom modifications by 'cheating' the way that you move to being pain-free.

Movement skills are based on the research of people such as Professor Stuart McGill and Dr Jeremy Lewis and the pain science education work is predominantly that of Professor Lorimer Moseley and Dr David Butler.

I cannot promise to fix everything for everyone, but I can usually decrease your pain and improve your movement using manipulative treatments, functional exercise, pain education and problem-solving techniques. If I don’t think that I can help you, I will tell you.

If you prefer to lie down in peace and quiet and not involve yourself with education or advice, you may not find my approach meets your expectations.

Regarding expectations, you will usually be asked to remove some items of (appropriate) clothing for assessments and treatment. Please give this some thought as assessing and treating through clothing makes the task more challenging and less successful.

You are stronger and more capable then you realise. Let’s see what we can do.
