The
orthotist-prothetist plays a key role in the rehabilitation process. He intervenes
when a client requires the use of a brace or a prosthetic device following the
doctor's recommendation. The orthotist-prothetist follows the doctor's referral
to fabricate and/or adjust the orthotics, brace or prosthetic device to best suit
the needs of the patient.
The orthotist-prothetist has knowledge in the
area of biomechanics as well as in the different resistive materials, which gives
him a certain expertise in the fabrication of functional and quality orthopedic
braces. The prosthesis and orthosis are custom made for each patient in order
to respect their individual needs.
