Craniosacral therapy

Craniosacral therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the craniosacral system.

The craniosacral system is made up of membranes of the central nervous system as well as their attachments to the cranial bones and the sacrum. Cerebrospinal fluid, which supplies nutrients to nervous system tissue and is responsible for removing waste products from cerebral metabolism, follows a rhythmic balance within this system.

When an imbalance or dysfunction in this system occurs, it can cause chronic pain as well as sensory, motor and/or neurological disabilities. The gentle techniques used in craniosacral therapy release restrictions in this system, enhancing the flow of cerebrospinal fluid and improving its function.
