As part of the festivities of its 20th anniversary, the St-Bruno Action Sport Physio clinic will be holding a fundraising event for the benefit of the Charles-Bruneau Foundation.

This even will take place at the clinic on August 6th, 2011 from noon to 5 pm and will include:

- a bike parade for 5 to 7 year old kids
- a 1 km race for 8 to 10 year olds
- 30 stationary bikes to raise funds

The event will end with a Great nocturnal run, featuring cyclists from various categories: senior elite, junior elite and master A-B-C.

Before starting physiotherapy, I was limping and had a strain on my calf muscle. My pain was an 8 on 10. After a few treatments with Emilie Belley at ASP St-Leonard, my pain has decreased to 1 on 10 and I am 100% better! I am back to playing soccer and doing all my activities.

Cycling - Let's Ride!

Have you started cycling again, and the aches started along with it? Are you feeling pain in your thighs, wrists, calves, knees and neck? Be careful, after this never ending winter, becoming physically active too quickly can lead to injury!

Did you know that on average, a cyclist pedals more than 5000 revolutions per hour? Overuse injuries are frequent among cyclists who increase too quickly their exercise duration and intensity too quickly.

What is the most important thing to keep in mind when someone starts to run?
 
The most important thing is to start running gradually. It is important to not rely solely on your cardiovascular capacities, but to also quantify the mechanical stress on the lower extremities. If your body is not already adapted to this stress (impact) and you progress too quickly, the risk of injury increases.
