Is My Pillow Right for Me?

Is My Pillow Right for Me?

This might seem like a simple question, but in most cases, the answer is “no”!

A pillow should be neither too thick nor too thin and must allow your spine to be properly aligned, whether you sleep on your back or your side. Otherwise, this may cause several cervical problems. I realized while treating patients with neck pain that their pillow was, for most of them, a large part of their problem! Of course, a complete assessment is necessary because many other aspects can influence the cervical spine.

Imagine the damage that can result from a poor sleep posture during eight hour nights, over several years!

You must also know that sleeping on your stomach is not recommended.

If in doubt, don’t hesitate to bring your pillow at your next appointment: your therapist will be able to guide you.
