Emilie Belley graduated from McGill University with a bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy in 2008. She also obtained a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2005. During her studies, Emilie took part in multiple research projects including: the effect of stress on IBS symptoms, the effect of hormones on memory, the effect of stress during the process of blood donation.
Emilie had her first experience in physiotherapy for a knee injury that happened to her during gymnastics; as a teenager, she was already initiated to her future career. During her studies, she worked as an assistant therapist in a private physiotherapy clinic in order to get more experience in the field. Furthermore, during her second year as a physiotherapy student, Emilie was a teacher’s assistant in the anatomy lab of McGill University. She has been part of the Action Sport Physio St-Leonard team since 2008, minus one year spent in Toronto.
Since graduating in 2008, Emilie regularly completes courses to stay up to date with the latest in the physiotherapy world. These courses include: specialisation in temporomandibular joint assessment and treatment; specialisation of shoulder injury evaluation and treatment; evaluation, treatment and prevention of running injuries; running evaluation; evaluation, stabilisation exercises and treatment of cervical injuries; evaluation and treatment of sacro-iliac dysfunctions, manual therapy upper and lower extremities (level 2), as well as McKenzie course for the lower back.
Since 2012, as a therapist, Emily has participated in multiple sporting events, including a gymnastics team, several Ironman/triathlon competitions, and the Canadian Figure Skating Championships in 2012-2013 and 2013-2014.
